Last night for dinner I made hummus. This is the only regular hummus recipe I’ve ever made (I made red pepper hummus before with a different recipe). It’s so simple, so yummy, and I always have the ingredients on hand. Even Rebecca loves this, especially on pita bread. I got this recipe years ago. It might be from All Recipes, but I can’t remember. I’ve made it many times, and everyone always likes it. And you can make it to your liking…add as much seasoning as you want. I made it a bit before dinner and then let it sit in the refrigerator to let the flavors blend. I just took a quick picture of it in the bowl, not as I served it. Doesn’t look pretty, but it sure tastes good.
Extra Easy Hummus
1 (15 oz.) can chick peas, drained, liquid reserved (or chick peas soaked and cooked)
1 clove garlic, crushed (I use a little garlic and some garlic powder)
1 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. salt (I use a little more than this)
2 – 5 Tbsp. olive oil
lemon juice (I add a very small amount, sometimes leave it out)
In a food processor combine beans, garlic, cumin, salt, oil and lemon juice. Blend on low, gradually adding bean liquid until desired consistency.
