Kid-Friendly Real Food Meal Plan Week of 1-29-17

This week’s kid-friendly real food meal plan and agenda include easy meals, time with friends and my first trip to Aldi! This week's kid-friendly real food meal plan and agenda include easy meals, time with friends and my first trip to Aldi!

Everyone is back to normal. How wonderful to have kids eating and sleeping regularly again.

A First…or Second

This week we don’t have much going on out of the ordinary. Though I am super excited to try Aldi! It’s actually my second time…but my first time was about eight years ago. I know things have changed a lot since then. I’m really hoping I find good stuff and can start saving some money by shopping there.

In the Kitchen

We have yet to find time to bake a pie. That idea was put on the back burner during sickness. Maybe this week since we are having guests. It’s great motivation. I also have to brainstorm Super Bowl snacks for next Sunday. My husband likes to have munchies to watch. Got any good recipes?

Last week was pretty exciting as my toddler ate both homemade ice cream and sardines with no noticeable reactions! Raw cream and sardines are two super nutrient foods. It makes this mama very happy.

I am still working on recipe creating for my new book! A few to go and then it’s time to start writing.

As usual I’m going with simple meals this week. Here is our kid-friendly real food meal plan. What are you eating? This week's kid-friendly real food meal plan and agenda include easy meals, time with friends and my first trip to Aldi!

Last Sunday I posted that we were over the hump with sickness. I guess I was wrong. It continued on for the rest of the week. The girls seemed to have a regression every other day. I’m praying it’s gone for good and we can get back to normal this week. I have a lot to catch up on!

Back to Busy

This week we start back up with Kindermusik two days a week. So that adds a bit more busyness to our schedule. But it’s good to have all three kids learning music again.

We skipped most of our kitchen work last week due to illness. Maybe this week we’ll finally get to make pie and ice cream!

Recipes Galore

I’m also still working hard on my new book. Hopefully soon I’ll have all of the recipes created and photographed so I can start writing!!

I’m happy to start a new week! Last week we had a yucky virus run through all the kids (partly while my husband was out of town!). Thankfully everyone is past the worst of it and getting back to normal.

Kids In The Kitchen.

This week I’m anxious to get in the kitchen and do some baking and recipe creating. It feels like it’s been a while. My oldest is asking to do more and more in the kitchen too. So I need to give her some challenges. I think this week it will be making pie crust!!

That specific skill isn’t covered in Kids Cook Real Food, but all of the necessary skills to try it are. The kids can all use more practice measuring and following a recipe.

Find out how you can teach your kids to cook here!

New In The Kitchen.

We also get our pork order for the year this week. I’ll be happy to have my freezer stocked again. It’s always good to have more options when meal planning.

Slowly but surely I’m plugging along with my new cookbook. My kids sure are enjoying the process! I can’t wait to share the finished product with you. Hopefully I can find the time to complete it!!

Here is our kid-friendly real food menu for the week. Lots of fun, kid-friendly and nourishing foods. What’s on your menu?

This week's kid-friendly real food meal plan and agenda focus on fun in the kitchen, homeschooling and new activities. It's going to be a busy week!

It’s a new week. A week for new experiences on the farm. Although we are finding farm life is a lot of work (and we don’t even have animals or a garden!) we love it. I am so grateful we get to call this place home. We even went cross-country skiing across the property yesterday!

Back To School!

We enjoyed our first week back to school last week. All the kids are having fun learning (or at least that’s what they tell me). This week we add piano lessons, Spanish immersion co-op and one-on-one Spanish conversations to the mix.

Cooking Up A Storm.

We’ve been busy in the kitchen getting back to work with the Kids Cook Real Food ecourse. My kids never want to miss an opportunity to help in the kitchen. Last week we practiced flipping skills and made pancakes. I think this week I’ll have my eight year old make cheeseburgers for dinner one night to keep perfecting her skills.

I’ve been enjoying experimenting with food photography in our new house. I’ve got lots of recipes to create and photos to take for my upcoming book!! Stay tuned for more details.

Kid-Friendly Food.

Happy New Year!! It’s hard to believe we’re at the start of a new year.

Getting Back On Track.

For now I’m focusing on the new week. And I’m so excited to get back into routines and start school again. The kids are too! We have so much to learn and explore, including new presents.

I’m hoping to get my New Year’s goals posted soon. Bear with me…life has been slightly busy. At least I did get my end of year thoughts written out.

Getting Back In The Kitchen.

This week I’m going to try my new instant pot (only my third time!), make frosting for cupcakes (for an event) and use some of our new beef (just got a freezer full of beef a few days before Christmas).

I am making sure we start the year with good nutrition. A great way to do that is by adding more broth to our diet. GAPS Diet Journey is hosting a 30 day broth challenge if you need a little help making it one of your goals.

Sign up for the broth challenge here.

I’m trying to get my kids in kitchen too with the Kids Cook Real Food ecourse.

You can check out the FREE knife skills classes here!

Kid-Friendly Meal Plans.

Here is our kid-friendly real food meal plan for the week. You may notice it looks slightly different. I still eat rotationally for the most part, but I know it can be confusing and overwhelming for others to see. So I’ll leave that part out for you. And as we expand our diet I’ll have more variety on the menu as well. Enjoy!

What’s on your menu this week? Did you include any broth?

Merry Christmas!!

I pray you have a blessed day of celebrating our Lord’s birth. What a special day it is. We will be celebrating with extended family. We already had a great time with family last week too!!

This week our goal is to finish getting the house settled. Yesterday I organized bathrooms and the mud room Still to go – the big kids’ bedroom, our school room and the spare bedroom/craft room. There are a few boxes to be unpacked yet as well.

Kids In The Kitchen.

I really want to get my kids in the kitchen this week. My daughter got her own set of knives for Christmas and she’s been itching to give them a try (she started yesterday chopping veggies for our party).

Curious how I got my kids comfortable with knives in the kitchen? Check out the Kids Cook Real Food ecourse! The free knife skills videos will be available later this week!! Sign up here!

More School, Please.

If it were up to my kids we’d be starting up school again Monday morning. They are so excited about our new school room and our new puzzles, games and flashcards (functional Christmas presents!). I told them we could do a few things but we won’t be starting up full time school work until next week. I need more time to plan and prepare!! At least that’s my goal for the second half of the school year…more planning ahead.

This week’s real food meal plan has some of my older recipes I haven’t made in a while. I thought it would be fun to let the kids help make them and have some new foods now that we’re expanding everyone’s diet.

Real Food Meal Plan Week Of 12/18/16

This week’s real food meal plan and agenda focus on celebrating Christmas with family and continuing the unpacking process.

This week's real food meal plan and agenda focus on celebrating Christmas with family and continuing the unpacking process.

It’s crazy that we’ve been living on the farm for a week now! I really thought I’d be more emotional/sentimental about the old house. But this already feels like home (aside from not knowing where half of my stuff is). I guess it helps that I LOVE our new house.

Motivation To Move.

We’ve been on the fast track to get things unpacked because we have lots of family coming to stay with us this week! We still have a lot to go, but we’re settled enough to have a functional house.

So far life on the farm is…COLD! We’re realizing that none of us has proper clothing for living out in the country when wind chills are below zero and the wind doesn’t stop howling. I think there may be some after Christmas sales clothes shopping coming.

I also think our new house is magical. My toddler has slept through the night AND not gotten up early five days in a row now. It’s a true miracle. I know my body sure is loving the great sleep!

In The Kitchen.

I’ll be in the kitchen a lot preparing meals for everyone for a few days. But no extra projects planned right now. Though my kids might convince me otherwise since we will be celebrating Christmas as a family later in the week. I like to do something special for breakfast when we open presents.

These scotcheroos come together in about ten minutes, using real, allergen friendly ingredients. A simple, delicious dessert with no baking required!

I did make a special treat last week – my updated and allergy friendly scotcheroos!! You must try them. The kids had fun helping me. I had so much fun experimenting with photography at the new house. So much good lighting!! Now I want to make all sorts of stuff to photograph. Any suggestions?

Head’s Up!

There are a couple really cool things coming up I don’t want you to miss:

The Kids Cook Real Food ecourse will be open at the end of the month!! Sign up here to be notified so you don’t miss out.

Did you miss the Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle the first time around? It will be back for just two days – December 28 and 29! Real Food Meal Plan Week Of 12/11/16

This week’s real food meal plan and agenda focus on getting settled and unpacked and finally having a few minutes to bake!

This week's real food meal plan and agenda focus on getting settled and unpacked and finally having a few minutes to bake!

We’re here! We’re here! Today is our first full day living on the farm. We wish it didn’t have to start with a winter storm. But we are happy to be here.

More Excitement.

This week is also exciting because my son is now a home schooler!! I’m so overjoyed to have all of my kids home with me. There is so much we want to do and learn. My kids are the most excited to explore the farm right now.

But first we need to unpack a few boxes. I’m sure that will be an ongoing process for the next few months. For this week my goal is to get the important stuff we use on a daily basis unpacked and organized.

In The Kitchen.

I also need to get caught up in the kitchen! I feel like my kids have been living on (store bought) crackers for the last two weeks. I’m giving myself grace because, well, life. Things were just CRAZY the last couple weeks (staying up Friday night to individually wrap plates and cups is just not my thing). But now I’m ready to break in the new house with some good baking (anyone want to come clean the oven for me??).

I’m sure it will be simple staples, like muffins and crackers. But I’m still excited. Christmas baking will have to wait until after Christmas this year as we have one week now until out-of-town family is coming for a few days! Someone please tell me why I agreed to that? Oh, right…because I hate to travel and had no intention of packing a week after moving!!

Thank You!!

Thank you all for following along with our journey to start this crazy farm, homeschooling life!! I can’t wait to share more with you for years to come.

Don’t forget my giveaway for an amazing homeschooling book for parents is about to end! Enter here.

This week's real food meal plan and agenda focus on the end of school, end of semester and moving!!! This is the week we've been waiting for.

It is finally here! The last week in this house. By the end of the week we’ll be moved into the farm!! I’m trying my hardest to focus on the excitement of the journey ahead instead of the sadness of leaving a place we’ve called home and made tons of memories in for the past twelve years.

BUSY!

This week will be kind of insane. We’re trying to do as many trips to the new house as possible to bring random items and get some stuff unpacked. Plus my daughter has her end of semester celebration for her home school co-op. My son has his last day of school – which just happens to be a special program. So we’ll all go to that too.

I’m doing my best to stay on top of Christmas preparations. We got our tree yesterday. I’m almost done shopping. Most of the presents are wrapped. Cards went out early last week. My Christmas menus are planned.

If only there were three of me!

Homeschooling Giveaway!

Did you read my post on homeschooling? Go check it out! There is a giveaway too.

Meals this week will be mostly prep ahead so I have the day free to do home school and keep up with packing and unpacking. I don’t have any kitchen projects planned. I told the kids we may have to make Christmas cookies after Christmas this year!

I hope you have a wonderful week and can enjoy the holiday season. Here is our real food meal plan for the week. What’s on your menu?

Real Food Meal Plan Week Of 11/27/16

This week's real food meal plan and agenda focus on Christmas and moving preparations. The two week countdown is on!

It’s crazy to think we’ve already had our new house for a week. We’ve been over there almost every day cleaning and unloading boxes. Only 13 days until the big move. There is still plenty to be done!

Keeping Myself Sane.

My goal for this week is just to maintain my sanity. Living in two houses at once while taking care of three kids and home schooling is no easy task. Add the Christmas chaos to it and you see why I’m a bit more stressed than usual.

It sure was nice to have a break from school last week. We all needed it. This week I hope we can find time to do our work. Though it may be a lighter load than usual.

In The Kitchen.

I don’t expect to have much time in the kitchen this week. Though I do have to make a few teacher gifts. Thank goodness my daughter can almost make them herself!!

Meals are as basic as can be. But still homemade. If I can still have real, homemade food on the table every day in this chaos I think just about anyone can. They may be simple, but still nourishing. After the holidays I’ll get back to my usual cooking.

And hopefully cooking will be more fun next year as my two youngest are slowly adding more foods to their diets!! Currently everyone can at least eat some forms of dairy. And my son has been doing ok with rice and corn. Which means I can make so much more food that the whole family can eat. Praise the Lord!!

Staying Healthy.

I’m starting the week with roast chicken…which means lots of homemade broth. Just what we all need to get over colds and keep us nourished through stressful, tiring days.

We are so thankful for this new adventure. And we trust God will sustain us through the next few super busy weeks.

Speaking of healthy, don’t forget to enter the giveaway for a copy of Nourished Beginnings!! Today is the last day to enter. It is sure to help you keep the family healthy.
